Why I Founded Spike The Water Cooler

My career and personal path has been somewhat of a schizophrenic pursuit of passion, which has resulted in the most unimaginably perfect storm of experiences.  I could never have mapped the journey, but it is a willingness to re-invent, take risks and be unapologetically bold that has led me to where I am (sometimes a spectacular failure and other times surpassing all expectations) – that and the lessons I learned from other women.

While women can be each other’s greatest help and hindrance, we all grapple with the same challenges in 2012.  Let’s be honest, at the end of the day, we want “it all” and to look like a cover model while doing it.

Spike the Water Cooler is my way of re-creating the advice, humor, sisterhood and fiercely honest voices of the many women who have touched my life.  It is a sounding board for women who admit that while their idol may be Lara Croft or (insert obnoxiously perfect fictitious homemaker), they feel more like Bridgette Jones on most days.  It is for women who realize that the world is a different place for women, but still appreciate that men are a pretty great invention.  It’s for women who wish that cupcakes were part of a healthy and balanced diet.  It is to explain the benefits of Spanx as well as a good health care plan.  It is for those of us who understand that a sense of humor is the best way to prevent a nervous breakdown.

Spike the Water Cooler is a place to talk all things work, life and fun in a way that will actually make you smarter.  It’s a way to seek candid advice from women who are making a difference by “Spiking the Water Cooler” in their life.  Its kind of like reading your People magazine behind the cover of the Wall Street Journal on the plane – you look smart to all of those around you and accidentally learn something while being entertained.  We all have a short time to live the life we want – and it’s never too late to “Spike It” and be the change in our own life.

Join us to read, contribute and ask questions of really smart chics.  And don’t forget…we’re all making this life up as we go!
