Generation Y has developed a less-than-flattering reputation in the job market.
As Cal Newport explains in the Harvard Business Review, we’re a generation who has been told to “follow your passion” and accept nothing less than the dream job. But when we confront the less-than-dream-job entry level tasks (not that data entry and answering phones aren’t enthralling) , we remember that we “should not settle” and look for our dream elsewhere.
How does Gen Y escape this trap? We need to change the conversation about satisfying work, Cal says.
