Censorship Over the “V” Word

Rep. Lisa Brown, a Michigan State House member was banned from speaking on the floor Thursday because she used the word “vagina” during a debate about abortion the day before. A spokesperson for the Speaker of the House stated that Brown was censored for her “offensive comments.”

In an interview today in her defense, Brown brought up an interesting point: “If you can’t talk and you can’t use the word ‘vagina’ — why are you legislating about vaginas?”
Regardless of political party or view on reproductive rights, it’s a good question.
