About Us

Another women’s blog?  Well, yes, but not really.  This is not a color-me-pink version of the New York Times or a sounding board for mean-girl types who spend their days analyzing People magazine for new wrinkles on Cameron Diaz so they can feel better about themselves.  (Of course, we wouldn’t dare knock People magazine or airbrushing for our own headshots – it is 2012, right?)

Spike the Water Cooler is a growing community of modern ladies who acknowledge that being a woman can be pretty darn fun and that being “feminine” doesn’t mean being weak (or that we only like pink).

Being a lady means we still like that heels make our legs look longer (even though they are modern torture devices), and we don’t criticize our own kind– even when she wears that unfortunately tight outfit (maybe no one told her about Spanx…).

Spike the Water Cooler is a virtual meeting place for women to get uncensored advice from other wise women and for all of us to share our candid experiences.  It’s here to acknowledge that there’s a little Liz Lemon and Bridgette Jones in all of us–even when we want to be more Carrie Bradshaw. (Where’s the real-life example of Bridgette Jones by the way?)

STWC recognizes that it’s a new world for women at work, home, and play and that we have to reinvent the old ways of doing things.  This requires living with a little less fear and a little more “woman power” (as my husband likes to call it).
